Ken Sorenson Takes Oath as Senate-Confirmed United States Attorney for the District of Hawaii

HONOLULU – Ken Sorenson took the oath of office as the United States Attorney for the District of Hawaii on August 18, 2026, following his confirmation by the United States Senate and the signing of his commission by the President. Before his confirmation, United States Attorney Sorenson served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for 39 years, including 30 years in Hawaii, leading investigations and prosecutions into notable espionage, public corruption, murder, racketeering, drug trafficking, complex fraud, terrorism, and environmental cases. He began serving as Hawaii’s Acting United States Attorney in January 2025 and was appointed by the United States District Court in March 2026 to continue to serve as Hawaii’s United States Attorney pending his confirmation before the United States Senate. “It was an honor and privilege to serve the people of Hawaii as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for three decades.
