LEXINGTON, Ky. – A Lexington, man, Jeremy Cowan, 35, was sentenced on Thursday to 10 years by U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell for being a felon in possession of a firearm and distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. According to his plea agreement, in late 2025, law enforcement identified Cowan as a Lexington-area drug dealer. Law enforcement then conducted a series of controlled buys of drugs and firearms from Cowan. On four occasions, from December 15, 2025, to January 12, 2026, law enforcement used a confidential informant to purchase over 330 grams of methamphetamine, over 58 grams of fentanyl, and two firearms from Cowan. Cowan admitted to possessing the firearms and knew he had been convicted of a felony and was prohibited from possessing firearms. Jason Parman, First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; John Nokes, Special Agent in Charge, ATF, Louisville Field Division; and Phillip J. Burnett, Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police, jointly announced the sentence. The investigation was conducted by ATF and KSP. Assistant U.S. Attorney James Chapman and Amanda Morgan prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. – END –
